 I have Windows 10 and have been able to use my Finale 2012.  But, today when I enter the note from the numeric keyboard, it enters the rest of the equivalent value.  Can anyone help?

I'm on a Mac so I don't know which modifier key to use, Shift, Option or Alt. You can find the setting in Preferences and change it to Note as I recall.

Are you using Speedy Note Entry?  If so, check to see if you're using "MIDI Device for Input."  If so, that'll give you a rest instead of a note when entering from the keyboard.
