I have taken a very old brass band file and decided to change a few things. However, when I copied (Control C) and pasted (Control V) a few bars from one stave to another, Finale crashed.  This happened several time.

Printed out a hard copy.  Re-installed Finale (I have the very latest version) but the same thing happened.

Deleted the file and started afresh from a template. Again "copy and paste" crashed Finale.!!!   I also have the latest OS on my Macbook Pro.

Any suggestions guys??

Thanks

Ian,

I haven't experienced that but I am Windows. One of the Mac guys will be along and probably have an answer for you.

Otherwise you can u/l your offending file to a Dropbox or Google drive and give us the link so we can see if the file has some problems in it.

Newest update of Finale is crashing with no error code. Simply says "Finale has encountered an error" on Windows 11. Seems to have started with newest update

Robert,

It isn't new to see some issues. If you were a long time Finale user like I am you would remember the Blue Screen of death for instance. Not only Finale crashing but the entire system.  Finale trying to read or write memory that isn't allocated to Finale, or trying to run invalid instructions. Viruses or malware or corrupted system file. Hardware issues like overheating or defective components etc., and on and on.

However let's hope we find the culprit.

Ok, the OP is giving Windows commands but says “also has a MacPro”. Does the Mac have this same problem?

Mike,

I think we have both, a user on Windows and Mac. It seems both platforms are seeing the crash issue.

No, Ernie, the original poster is complaining about Win. He also has a Mac. The next post was about Windows. No one in this thread has mentioned this behavior on the Mac — that’s why I asked the question and it has not been answered.

I’m not seeing it and I keep some ancient test files for this exact purpose.

Mike it looks like Ian has a Mac.  He posted the same query on the other Finale forum and says he is using a Mac in his profile.  Why he used Windows terms is confusing.

Robert has a PC and is using Windows 11.

Correct?

Sorry guys if I gave the impression that I used anything else but a Macbook Pro.

I have deleted the offending file, and the new file is working OK.

Sorry to put all to any trouble!!!
