I have a Macbook 6 and Finale 2014

I used to use a PC and just switched to Mac. i used to be able to add harmonies (like in a piano part) just by moving the cursor to the new note and clicking enter. Is it the same with the Mac? The manual says to move the cursor to the note and click, but it doesn't work. Any help?

I'm a little unclear. Are you trying to form chords, or add a contapuntal melody line?

In Simple Entry, you need to have the same value selected as the note stem you are clicking on. This is true going back to F-2011 at least.

 

This is one of the reasons I still like Encore for basic note entry. Adding a note to a stem inserts the same value—much faster.
