I bit the bullet and purchased Dorico. I opened and closed it. When I tried to open a file in Finale, all I saw were stems. This didn't happen with an older file, so I'm guessing it's SMuFL related. Yes, I've submitted a ticket, just thought I'd let y'all know. This is why it doesn't pay to be a first cross-adopter.

You opened a file in Finale 27, and the noteheads were missing? Is this a new installation of Finale 27? I don't think you can blame Dorico for this.

Were other symbols, like clefs, time sigs, and dynamics showing? If not, it could just be that Maestro isn't active/installed.

Mac? Windows? Did you reboot after this happened and try again?

It is possibly smufl-related. ason Loffedo's Conquering Finale YouTube series has a detailed explanation of the differences with SMuFL vs Finale's own fonts.

Here's a link to one of them - he has a few
