Room temperature, my IQ, and my age have all reached the same coordinate, and though world peace didn't break out, I bit on the Dorico upgrade, and three days later, I have a publishable conversion of score and parts to my biggest arrangement. So everyone should relax - if I can do it, surely you can. You're IQ's are warmer than mine.

My guess is that MakeMusic devs have been fooling around with Dorico quite a while and came to the conclusion they couldn't do any better at this point, and they worked out a deal with Dorico. A week after the fact, I feel they did us a solid given the circumstances.

Interesting guess.

 

When MakeMusic stock stopped trading a few months ago, it wasn't hard to see that this was coming. Alfred Publishing is doing well and SmartMusic is big in the education market — or so they told me at NAMM last January. SmartMusic is now MakeMusic Cloud. Peaksware is reorganizing their music businesses to maximize profitability. If that's the goal, there's no room for Finale. Yamaha wants this business and so a deal has been worked out.

MM stock stopped trading..? Well, that should have been a big hint.

Thank you so very much for the offer but no I don't think I need it. I have moved on the Musescore 4 to see if it is where I want to go. after I spend a week or so with it I will try Sibelius. I used to get all the Sib demos when they did and upgrade so I am a little familiar with it. That is why it is last. I am in no hurry to switch just checking the waters.

 

 

After doing this my opinion of Dorico 5 has not changed it is way too cumbersome and complex. It forces you to memorize keyboard commands and short cuts because the menus are such a mess.
