Windows 10, Finale 27.x (current)

I have followed the tutorial by Kevin Lynch on YouTube but have had mixed successes, although a friend had full success on her iMac.

First of all, I did read the "folder export to XML" thread--but that is three years old.

I do have a plethora of files, but when I clicked to "translate," the process ran only a few minutes before I got an error message about empty file or something (I was in a hurry out the door, so I did not get a screenshot). When I clicked OK the process continued.

However, only about 1/4 to 1/3 of my files translated.

The log file was saved inside the main file folder, and each xml file was saved adjacent to the original .musx file.

Upon reading the log.txt file, I found this:

There were several.

Today, I tried translating files in one of my smaller sub-folders, and all went well, though with the log.txt and xml files placed inside the folder.

Mac and Window OS do not work 100% the same, so I expected some differences in the translation, but I did expect all files to be translated.

Any similar experiences or suggestions?

Tried another couple of folders with success, and then this, which I mentioned before.
When I tried to open it in Finale, I got the same error message. So, looks like a corrupted file, or something.
Otherwise, for a single sub-folder to the main folder, with sub-folders of its own, this worked fine.

Have you selected xml type in preferences? It's not where one expects it but, if not checked, Finale doesn't know what to do. Here are some screen shots. Note that you have a number of options.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I did select all that you have shown, plus the "Include subfolders" option.

Hi,

If the problem is limited to one file and if the file cannot be opened, It looks like it could be damaged.

Don't you have any backups to try out ?

Hi Michel,

Yes, it was an older file, and in its early stage of development.
All of the other files in the folder translated.

BTW, Mike...
RE: my previous post "Today, I tried translating files in one of my smaller sub-folders, and all went well, though with the log.txt and xml files placed inside the folder."

Where should the musicxml files and the ExportLog.txt be placed in the translation process?

The MusicXML files should normally be placed into the folder (or subfolder) that contains the Finale files.
