I have a Mac (Ventura), using Finale v27. I'm getting Finale files from someone using a PC. All the notes and markings are question marks. Found an article telling me to edit some stuff in the file MacSymbolFont.txt. I cannot find it on my computer.  So... now what?

What are your steps for finding the file MacSymbolFonts.txt ?

 

These steps work for me:

In the Finder, hold down Option, and pull down Finder’s Go menu.

In the Go menu the user account’s Library folder (which normally is a hidden folder) will appear (because of the Option key).

Path in the Library folder:

Library > Application Support > MakeMusic > Finale 27 > Configuration Files > MacSymbolFonts.txt

If it's just that Finale document, then the problem is not with your MacSymbolFont.txt file. 

What is the default music text font set to? Re-setting it to Maestro may fix it.
