I have been using Finale for over 20 years. Today, for the first time, whenever I click on the Smart Shape tool, I get the 15ma--- symbol, never the slur. It does matter which specific shape I click on, I always get the 15ma symbol only. What is happening?

I agree with Jeffrey. It sounds like the Stuck Virtual Key. Restarting should clear it up.
