Finale 2012 wont print to HP Color Laser Jet M254dw. Windows offers,as usual, the richly detailed and helpful message "Error printing on HP Color Laser Jet M254dw.The printer won't print". HP tells me its a problem with Finale.

I have read your response. You have kindly suggested I refer to a page in which the following guidelines are printed:

  1. Include your operating system version and software version numbers.
  2. Please be sure to include a brief description of the issue.
  3. Include the steps that it takes to replicate the problem (if applicable).
  4. Setting up the desired result versus the actual result can be crucial in clearly communicating the issue you are having.

I have included the OS . The software version is version 2012c.

I described the issue briefly. The step it takes to replicate the problem are attempting to print. The result is a message from WIN10 saying that there is an error in printing on the printer.

And now I would like for you to tell me exactly how this is not nearly enough information. Not only not enough information , but not NEARLY.

This is a users board. Unless the person is identified as a MakeMusic employee, we aren't. Enthusiastic volunteers, yes, but volunteers only.

What Windows OS? How is the printer connected—USB, ethernet, wireless, through a print server, other? What drivers are you using? How are you accessing the Print command? Post screen shots if necessary to help us understand (.jpg or .png).

You are using a 5 year old version of Finale that is no longer supported. It's possible that, by describing the problem accurately and completely, another user might have a clue—or may know what questions to ask. We aren't looking at your setup nor can we read your mind.

If you upgrade to Finale 25, you have access to MakeMusic tech support.

BTW, I am very familiar with HP blaming everyone else for print problems that are really HP's.

Oh, I'm sorry, I expected you to read my mind. You do act as if you were omniscient.

If this is what you call assistance, I am no longer interested in it .  I am going to find an interlocutor who , judging from through the tone and tenor of their remarks, would not pride themselves on failing a Turing test.

That's too bad. I'm an expert on network printing in general and HP in particular. I asked the questions I did because answers and screen shots might help me solve your problem.

The questions Mike asked are entirely reasonable.
