Today I was trying to enter in a piano part with speedy entry and the number pad. I put in the first note of the chord and went back to add the next and instead of stacking it, it is inserting them in front of the previous notes then yelling at me that the measure is wrong. I don't know what setting was changed if at all. It was working fine the last time I used it but now that.

Notes are inserted when the shift key is held down.  Now it's doubtful you're doing that deliberately and not realizing it, so you might have a stuck shift key.  Strange, but not impossible.  Try pressing both shift keys a number of times and see what happens.

Finale has a strange bug in metatools involving stuck letter keys that's been around for years, and it's still there in the latest version.  So it might see a stuck shift key.  It's easy and worth a try.

Aubrey Krengel,

Take a look in the Speedy menu.

Is the menu item “Insert Notes or Rests” selected or de-selected?

Does the Speedy Entry caret have 'notches' at the top and bottom? If so, it's possible that you inadvertently pressed Shift-I sometime while in Speedy. This puts it into Insert mode.
