Hello,

I have this Violin staff with a melody on Voice 1 and a sub-melody on Voice 2. I'd like to make a divisi by transferring the notes on Voice 2 to another staff. How can I do this without having to input the notes all over again?

Thanks, JWL.

Are you using Voices or Layers?

In Other Words:

Do you mean Layer 1 and Layer 2, or Voice 1 and Voice 2 (= a special Speedy Entry feature for two Voices in the same layer)?

If you mean Layers, then the trick is easy:

Document menu > Show Active Layer Only (select)

“Show Active Layer Only” also means “Edit Active Layer Only”.

When you have selected “Show Active Layer Only”, you can copy notes from the active layer to another staff, without affecting other layers.

If you mean Voices, it is a little more complicated.

Without knowing the actual context I can only suggest a general solution that will work (but it may not be the best solution in the actual context):

Use the utility Explode Music.

Thank you. I was using layers and your solution worked well. Wish you the best. JWL

Or, you could use Jari's plug in, JW Staff Polyphony, which will split off the layers and the unison notes, to a separate staff.

That sounds interesting, I’ll be sure to try it out after some good night sleep. Thanks for the help Mike! -JWL
