Finale will look at the recorded tempo changes first, then the expression tempo changes, then the playback controls.

If I understand you correctly, you need to use the Playback Controls, so you need to clear all Tempo Changes, and to clear all expressions, right?

To do so:

Selection Tool.

Select All.

Edit menu > Clear Selected Items…

In the dialog box, click "None" to de-select everything, then select

Markings > “Expressions: Tempo Marks &c.”

and

MIDI Data > “Tempo Changes”.

Hello.  I did what was asked, but no effect.  The tempo still goes up after a certain measure.  Please see the file I sent.  I really need this fixed.

I am sorry, but I just checked my e-mail, and I have not received anything from you.

However:

Since clearing Expressions and Tempo Changes did not help, make a duplicate copy of the document, and try this in the duplicate:

1) Clear all Expressions (not just Tempo Marks), and check whether that solves the problem.

2) If 1) does not help, then I suspect that the culprit is not saved in the document. Try setting Human Playback to None.

If deleting all the expressions solved the problem, then the culprit must be an expression with playback effect Tempo.

It does not have to be an expression from the category Tempo Marks.

Any expression can be edited to have a playback effect of the Tempo type.

A problem like this can easily occur if you create a new expression by duplicating an already existing expression, and editing the duplicate.

If you do not edit the new expression’s Playback, then the new expression will still have the same playback effect as the original expression.

Looking for expressions near the spot where the tempo misbehaves can help you narrow down the ones to examine.
