This is the full version of Finale (25.5)

I am running Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop (i7-16GRAM)

When I try to use Speedy Entry of Simply Entry this message comes up: FINALE ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR AND WILL SHUT DOWN
When I use any other tools (Time Sig, Key Sig, measure tool etc.) it is OK. It is just when I try to input notation.I've rebooted and made sure all updates have been installed.

I have submitted a ticket for this problem but all they had me do so far is change and shuffle the audio drivers but nothing has worked so far. I haven't been getting much help or suggestions from Finale so I would appreciate anyone who might have an idea how to solve this.

Same issue, and actually same laptop haha but the solution has nothing to do with that.

I decided to try to very quickly enter a note regardless of it shutting down and I saw a popup that said "No instruments have been selected. Would you like to add them?" Figured that was an issue, decided to investigate and sure enough that was the problem.

So, next time open your file and go into Window > Score Manager (Or the hotkey, Ctrl+K) and see if the device has been set to anything. Mine said "(missing)(missing)" so I immediately knew this was the problem and set it to load Garritan Instruments. Not sure why Finale did this for all my files but this fixed it for me, hope it helps you too!

UPDATE: When I re-open a file it still does this. I found that the issue persists where it refuses to assign the playback sounds and cant add notes because of this.

SO, go into "MIDI/Audio" and click "Reassign Playback Sounds" to load the instruments. Still no idea why it won't do it automatically.

Brandon -

The folks at Finale worked on my problem for about a month and finally came up with this temporary solution:

1. Close any open programs.
2. Hold down the Windows key on your computer keyboard and press the letter R at the same time.
3. Type in the following directory...

C:\Program Files\Finale\Audio Support

4. Move the AIOLib.dll component out of this folder and onto your desktop.

This has worked and I'll wait until the next version of Finale to see if it will function properly. But at least it is not crashing anymore.

You are going to have to go into your preferences and change your fonts for your notation. Check the manual on line for help on how to do this.
