I imported a music xml file to work on in my new Finale 25 software and found that Finale thinks that notes I play frequently myself as a new beginner student on the sax are out of range of the instrument. And if I'm playing them surely any advanced player can. So, I'd like to know:
- - How does Finale determine what is out of range?
- - Could something about the file I imported be the cause of the beginner notes to showing as out of range for advanced players? (They were not shown as out of range in other music notation software.)
- - Why might Finale not import into the opened & setup document I had prepared (with device instruments & sound set up in score manager)? - it opened a new document with no instruments, devices, or sounds selected in the Score Manager. I had to re-enter them all
I have out of range set as dull-yellow notes. The numbers in square brackets indicate the usual range of the instrument - I looked them up so I could avoid out of range notes. :-)
I don't play all those instruments, but I do play the sax -- and all the yellow notes are ones I easily play, so are not out of range. (1st year of lessons with my 1st instrument ever -- very beginner!)

Thanks for any help / insights!
