I am using Finale on a Windows 7 OS. I assembled a small jazz ensamble instead of using any of the preset ones. When I was almost finished I decided to swap out the acoustic guitar for Vibes using ScoreManager. When the viberaphone part came in, it didn't have any sound. No sound when I put notes in the stave, nor in playback. The same thing happened a while back when I accidentally deleated a violin stave from a piece and used ScoreManager to put another back in. I am fairly new to Finale and this is the biggest piece I have done so far. I do not know if there is something in prefrences, or if this is a glitch I can fix, or if my program is bugged.

The easy solution:

Instead of using the ScoreManager to change instrument, use the utility:

Utilities menu > Change Instrument…

Well, yes, next time I need to change an instrument, I'll use utilities, but right now, how do I fix the silent Vibes?

Without examining your Finale document we can only guess.

Try this on a backup copy of your document:

Use the Utility to change the Vibes to something else.

Next, use the Utility to change (back) to Vibes. (NOT via Undo!)

This should get you a document that works (plays back).

By examining this solution, and by comparing with the original document, you should be able to figure out, what went wrong.
