I would like to set up with setup wizard a full orchestra score.  The Wizard prepared the score template but Finale seems not to be able to find Garritan for finale.

The Aria player sits in there and Garrittan for finale sounds are in the directory below.

Finale 2012c, Windows 7 with GPO5

If you have any suggestions, it will be highly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jun Yamamoto

Are you acquainted with this link?

https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/217663758-Setting-up-Garritan-libraries-with-Finale-and-PrintMusic

Your GIfF files have an unusual "nks" extension, and the third column "Kontakt nks File" suggests you have a much older version of the Garritan Files than are current. They also look like install files rather than sound files. The sound files on my machine all have an "audio" extension.

What does the "001, Woodwinds" Folder look like when you expand it?
Do you have both the 32-bit and 64-bit Aria players (and dll's) installed on your machine?

Thank you, ADRIAN, for your advice:

1. I did not know the link.  As for Garritan instruments for finale, it says Finale 2014 or later.  Is this link workable for my poor 2012c?

2. Major part of the instruments have the entention .nki as shown in the attachment file.

3. The attached is how my 001 woodwinds folder look like.

4.  I have both 32-bit and 64-bit Aria players (dll's) installed and they are recognized by Finale 2012c.

Sincerely,

Jun Yamamoto

Unless MakeMusic works differently overseas, I don't think Aria will play (or perhaps even recognize) Kontakt NKI files. Finale's original partnership with Garritan used the Kontakt Player, but a long time ago (I cannot remember when) Garritan switches to Plogue's engine in their proprietary Aria player, which plays SFZ sound sample files. If you downloaded the Aria Player, did you download the sounds that came with it or rely on sound files already on your computer? If I Recall Correctly, Aria still has drivers for both 64-bit and 32-bit systems, so the player should work with older Finale systems.

Your best option (I am afraid to say) would be to upgrade to the current version of Finale. I realize this involves a cost which is inconvenient at the least. Without additional insight or additional information (I am not sure what) I am pretty much out of options. Perhaps someone with more 2012c experience will chip in with better ideas.

Thank you again, ADRIAN.  I appreciate your advice (time and efforts) very much.

As I figured out, the Finlale shows "Garritan Instruments for finale" in "Score Manager", so that it it should seek out some "for finale" sounds.

In turn, the VST manager shows it designate ARIA engine and cannot find its data (.audio)

As the 2012 vesrion is after the large upgrade in 2013, it may be supposed to work with Aria engine and its data.

If so, the trouble is only the location of Aria Garritan Data.  But I cannot find "for finale" data on the hard disk.

As I have GPO5, maybe my alternative is to manually designate GPO5 instruments to each staff.  No big deal.  I can do it and I will.

As unfortunately 2012 is regarded as a legacy version, MakeMusic will not support it any more.  So I stop my research here though I think some quick fix may exist ;)

Best wishes,

The trouble solved.

Once again, I clean re-install the Finale 2012c.

From some reason which I cannot identify, the problem is gone.  Finale plays full orchestra with its Garritan instruments for finale sounds ok.

Sorry for bothering you much.  Something in my system had been wrong.

Sincerely yours,

Since I had run out of answers, I am really glad you were able to solve it. Congratulations.

I just saw this today and was going to suggest the answer that you found.

Sometimes, later installs will break the paths between Finale and the version of Aria it requires to play the GIFF (Garritan Instruments for Finale).
