Macbook Air with OX10.11.6, Finale 2012 or 2012b

In the chord tool, the circle-with-slash symbol (instead of "m7b5") displays correctly as item 89, but in the music  itself, it displays instead as an upside down question mark. When I highlight the incorrect chord symbol above the music staff (purple highlight), the symbol does display correctly as a circle-with-slash, but when I escape out of the highlight, it switches back to an upside-down-q-mark.

Within Document menu, Set Default Music Font is Maestro.

Related question - I'd be willing to upgrade to a new Finale, but my Macbook Air has OX10.11.6 - and Finale sales can't tell me if I can handle a current version

And I am finishing a book project with 50 elaborate Finale files - I fear losing my formatting

It's not the Music font that controls that. It's the Chord Suffix font. In the case I show, it's Times New Roman.

You can always download the demo and see if it works on your system.

Mike, THANKS,  You're great but I'm really lost - I tried your idea but same problem still, no solution

Tried changing the Suffix fonts to Times New Roman , closed and opened file, created new half-dim chord - still displays wrong!

There are 4 Suffix options - I made  three of them  (Symbol, Suffix, Alteration) TNR, but it still doesn't display correctly.

Again, when I am editing the chord and it is highlighted, it displays correctly, but when I leave the tool it defaults to an upside down question mark

Without the document in front of me, I can only speculate.

I suggest sending Mike your file (Mike is reliable) and removing your phone numbers from your post (using the cogwheel at the bottomof the message to edit it) to protect your privacy.

Mike I emailed you the file from my gmail account, did you get it?

God bless you!

Adrian, I removed my phone number as you suggested

The issue has been solved (I hope!) In David's document, the wrong font was applied to the Suffix for the half-diminished 7th chord. So he should be good to go.

IIRC, the chord dialogue was "slated for improvement" in the next version. Guess not, huh? Easier to just load up the library with more choices, and trumpet that as a great improvement...
