Simultaneous Playback via internal VST instruments AND MIDI out to external midi devices

Hello. Is it impossible to route playback BOTH via internal VST and external MIDI simultaneously?

I've read all the relevant articles dealing with using EITHER option (eg, via MIDI?AUDIO>VST Banks & Effects (ps- mind you, I have never yet set eyes on any Effects listings as such), and alternatively using MIDI?Audio>Device Setup>Midi Setup, and lastly controlling all available devices/instruments/channels in that master controller named Score Manager.

Using either of these pathways separately, I can usually produce any desired sound outcome.

BUT, how can I run output simultaneously via BOTH VST internal instruments, AND external MIDI devices?? (purpose, to maximise usage of all of my available sound resources).

Or, is this something which we are not supposed to do?

Those who have managed this have sent MIDI output to Plogue Bidule modules or the like to access internal softsynths like Aria as well as external MIDI devices simultaneously. It is not a simple process unless you have programming skills or a friend who collects Bidule modules.

Hi Adrian...thanks for that, I'll do some research into this. So basically, I presume this means that Finale is NOT designed to simultaneously playback VST and MIDI out, without extra manipulation. Frank

As far as I know, Finale is not set up to send MIDI to external and internal players simultaneously.

Finale 25 and 26 support Rewire. Synch'ing with a DAW is the easiest way I know to accomplish this.

Focus on the end result, not on how you think it should work.
