Very buggy and old bugs not fixed (in print/pdf functions), playback volume decreased to almost inaudible, font size inaccuracies, chord font limitations, nasty looking templates, and the list is growing and this is only after a couple of days. $149 seems a blatant rip-off for what appears to be a minor, buggy upgrade that should be free. Even at free, I would skip v26. I'll give it (and me) a few more days, but unless I get some epiphany about v26, I'll probably be asking for a refund.

UPDATE10/16: My apologies. The problem with print>pdf has been fixed and works even better than before and imo works more efficiently than the graphics tool route.

To clarify- this was an issue of how the titles were generated when creating a pdf, nothing to do with printing. I'm glad its fixed and improved

UPDATE 10/19 Playback volume. I'd never been able to get Garritan to work in previous versions of Finale (mac) but now it works great. In Audio Units Banks and Effects the volume is lower to avoid signal clipping. When imported to Logic Pro X the volume is up. However, there is not sufficient volume in Finale while working.

Chord fonts- With supports help I got that issue fixed. Had to take a different path to achieve a goal.

Templates- Lead sheet just looks cheap- Arial font!? Really? The very small and placement of the common time "C" which is most uncommon; I've never seen it placed like that. In the past, I have always tended to use my own templates.

I need to replicate the initial font problem I had before I comment further.

At this point, I'm keeping v26 for the mac upgrades mainly and my new love of Garritan. But $149 is still too much! Hopefully, there will be quite a few free updates in the future to off-set the cost of this update.

What's the issue with "print/PDF functions"? Do you mean printing in general and exporting to PDF as separate operations, or print to PDF?
What makes the templates look "nasty"?
What font size inconsistencies are you experiencing?
What are you hoping to do with the "chord font"? What are the limitations you encounter?

 

I've only tried an hour on the demo just today. It would be helpful if I, and others, can see exactly what it is you are experiencing.

I'll try to go into detail later. Currently working on a deadline for a current arrangement. I should have waited to upgrade until after current project.

With 25 on the Mac, printing is a dark greyscale instead of Black including print to pdf. True black is obtained only through Grahics/Export as pdf. Apparently this does not affects Win users.

 

MM has never acknowledged it as a bug, BTW, which could explain why it’s never been fixed. On the other hand, they’ve never told us why they do it. Most users don’t notice the difference on the page but, with some Brother laser printers, the output is unusable. Those who print to pdf notice the file size is much larger. The Graphics/Export is the workaround for both.

 

My guess is that, despite the number of threads about this, not many users actually complain, myself included. I have to A/B the output from both my printers to see the difference but it is visible. I use the workaround on the extremely rare occasions that I email a pdf.

 

Still, it bothers many and I agree that it should have been addressed over the last two years.

GPO5, GPO4, Jabb  are not found AGAIN!  If I was working on the installer of the program, I would be embarrassed of the quality of work.  Pure crap.

 

Agreed on the Volume.  I can barely hear the Double Bass.

Quick entry tool has issues as well.
