I've read a few of the posts about creating a piano reduction and they don't quite answers my questions.

I am using Finale 25.4.1 and Mac High Sierra 10.13.6

I have a six-part choral work that I want to condense into two staves. I tried the "implode music" function and it did put everything together, but didn't preserve differences in note values among the parts. I really don't want to input the whole thing into two piano staves. Is there a way to copy and add into another layer or some other method that won't make a mess?

Thanks

You can copy and paste, using Show Active Layer Only, to avoid overwriting the notes in other layers. You might also look at JW Staff Polyphony, to see if that will do what you want.

Barbara, can you give us some more details? Exactly what are you starring with, what are you doing, and what is (or isn’t) happening?

And I agree with Bruce’s recommendation of JW Staff Polyphony.

Did you try the plug-in under Scoring and arranging>Piano reduction? Did it not work for you?
