Hi there

I am using Mac 10.14.1. I have Finale 25.4.1.163

 

I am trying to put in lyrics for a song in French. Every time I try to make an accent mark for an e as I always have - option+e, then e again - the program quits. I just did another similar song a couple of months ago and had no problem with this. Is there another way to make an accent aigu that I don't know about that won't cause this or is this a problem just in my file?

Try this:

Text menu > Inserts > Symbol…

Since you're on a Mac, there's a whole different way to enter accents! Hold the e key down for a few seconds, and you will see a number of choices. Just tap the number, for the one you want. (Not just the e. Try it on other vowels, and even some of the consonants.) This works on the iPad and iPhone, as well.
