I am working with Windows 10, Finale V25.  We are using a previously set template in English and are now replacing it with Dutch lyrics.  Sometimes we have a conjunction in Dutch in which we have an apostrophe, letter, space, word (ex: 'k dat).  This all needs to go under one note.  The auto word setting would normally go to a second note for "dat".  I have used the "adjust syllables" in the lyrics window to move the 'k and dat to one note.  Then I have moved the other words but the note that is left over in the staff refused to allow a word placement.  I finally used 'click assignment' and was able to get the word inserted only to have it change or disappear after closing and reopening the file.  This issue occurs fairly often in the translation of English texts to Dutch and fitting it to established melodies.

I have little experience with Finale.  We did not do the notesetting and are working with an established template.

Help is greatly appreciated.

You need to insert a non-breaking space between the two portions of the syllable you wish to place under the single note. On a Mac one simply types Cmd-Space and there must be a Windows equivalent. I believe it's done by holding down Ctrl and Shift, and then pressing the space bar.

I've had to do this quite a lot, although usually between German and Dutch, and it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Veel succes!

The Text menu (in Windows Finale 26) has an option to insert a hard space and gives its keycode equivalent as CTRL-SPACEBAR

Do you mean elisions? They are now in the Finale Lyric font!
