This one is vexing me-in a string quartet measure (96 as shown in the screenshot) that has a repeat sign and actually repeats itself 8 times, the first few notes are marked pizz and the last two arco. The first iteration (since the notes in a preceding measure are pizz) plays as expected but upon repeating from the beginning of the measure, the change back to pizz from arco doesn't happen. However, the next measure after the repeating one has a pizz text expression and that plays pizzicato as desired. I've tried everything. Using standard HP and GPO5 strings. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks. I have the score but this forum doesn't seem to accept Finale files anymore. Happy to provide a Dropbox link if desired.

If the Viola is (in a separate voice because it is) silent and only there to provide an arco sound missing from your Cello, I'd check to make sure the arco is attached to the Cello and not mistakenly attached to the Viola.

I'm just glad I don't have to switch from pizz to arco as quickly as that passage suggests, especially eight times in a row. :-)

Thanks but yeah, it’s definotely attached to the cello and set to start at the beginning of the measure.

If you want arco to occur on the third eighth-note beat, should it be attached to the start of the measure?

No; sorry-I meant the pizz marking is set to start at the beginning of the measure. Here is the score for what it's worth (still fixing a lot of stuff since it was created in an older version of Finale). What is odd is the pizz marking in the cello in measure 96 works as desired; it's the going back to the beginning of 95 after the first iteration that messes that measure up. Thanks for looking into this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/r3jp67uso25cxza/two%20sets.musx?dl=0

I hate to be the bearer of bad new (or perhaps it is good news), but I went to measure 96 and solo'd the cello part. It played back exactly as indicated.

When I opened your file, the Aria instruments were empty, so I had the program Reassign Playback Sounds, which it did from the standard Finale Aria bank of sounds. Perhaps that made a difference, since you might have been using a different Garritan package.

Hmmm...I had reassigned sounds from GPO5 (since the original file used just MIDI sounds as that was all I had way back when-this was like Finale 3.5 or something like that). Interesting. Will check that out. Thanks.
