Extracted parts are copies of the linked parts.

Before you extract parts, take a look at the linked parts, and make sure that your staff styles are applied in the linked parts.

This is an old bug which was never solved. I addressed it to MM support more than once, no result. You have to check all the applied Slash and Rhythmic Notation again in parts, even if Apply to Score and Parts is checked. It is time wasting workaround and you have to do that until MM (hopefully) finds the solution in one of the future updates.

I'm sorry the program does not by default do what you feel it should, but regardless of how MM decides to handle this situation in the future, the current design approach is not a bug.

(While I have no objection to users calling for a change in approach, calling something we do not agree with a bug is too easy.)

So if I apply Slash Notation in the Score and choose Apply to Score and Parts and then I do not see it in Part it is not a bug in your opinion? And as a longtime user (since 2.2) I am quite surprised about approach which says "regardless how MM decides to handle this situation in the future". I can then paraphrase Mr. Verkouteren and say: I have no objection to MM calling for change in approach, I simply bought a crossgrade to Dorico.

"I did notice that copying and pasting the measure in the score does not put the Staff Style in the part as well. I will go ahead and submit this as a feature request to the development team as well."

So your issue wasn't that the staff styles could not be applied to both score and parts, but that staff styles do not get transferred to the part when a selection is copied in the score?

When you right-click an applied staff style, there is an option that says "Use Selected Staff Style for Score and Parts." Have you tried that? That works for me. Also, I have no issues applying staff styles in the score and seeing them in the part.

This happens when copying between staffs (IAW between Piano and Guitar for example) as well as if applying to certain staff without copying from another. I, of course, know about Apply to Score and Part, as I mentioned above. This is a known bug, confirmed by MM in 2013, the latest, see my previous post. If there is "Apply to Score and Part" and then it is in the score only, it is a bug, I am sorry for my approach to say that.

If you are actually thinking of switching to Dorico, I strongly suggest you download their 30-day demo before you purchase a cross-grade (if you have not done so already). If you are dissatisfied with Finale's implementation of Staff Styles, I would strongly caution you to familiarize yourself with Dorico's "Propagate Properties" before you try to switch. In Dorico's case, it is not just staff styles that do not automatically transfer to player parts.

I stopped to count how long I use Finale on daily basis after 20th anniversary.

I am very fast, especially when I still can use QuicKeys with Sierra and I like the final layout and ability to fine tune the engraving. I will use Finale, check the forums and address another bugs in the future, because after so many years and thousands of full scores in my library, made since Finale 2.2 (and I literally bought every upgrade, so I can say that I am a loyal and supporting Finale user), I will stick to Finale for sure. But I have Dorico, I spend some spare time checking its abilities, because one never knows. Dorico improved a lot in last year. That is what I would love to see in Finale (again - I reported the bug I am talking about here to MM support in 2013, you can read the answer I posted above and it is still present, no doubts).

You once said, when MM closed the old forum and started this one, that MM is listening.

I do hope very much, that they are listening and they will listen even closer.

The issue with certain copyable Staff Styles not showing in the linked parts has been around for some time now. It is quite a nuisance. This happens when certain Staff Stylea (most commonly found when using Slash Notation) are copied from one part to another in the score. The Staff Style shows on the staff in the score but not in the linked part. This occurs even if the style was originally applied to both Score and Parts. This is definitely an issue for sure. You can generate the parts and the Staff Styles will then appear in the linked parts. This is not always ideal and should not be necessary though. 

I agree with David. And again - it is definitely a bug, because there is an option called "Copyable" in Staff Styles dialog box and I am sure, that I have it checked in all my predefined Staff Styles and it simply does not work. This anyway happens also when Staff style is applied to certain staff (not copied from another).
