Finale 2014.5 for mac, OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Gang, I feel that I must be missing something painfully obvious.  I've added a blank page to the beginning of my score, and am writing my performance notes. I need to include an explanation of symbols I've created.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add symbols in the blank page, beyond those included in the available fonts which I can add in a text box.  For example, I need to explain articulations, smart shapes, expressions, etc., that I have created, but the corresponding tools don't seem to function in a blank page.  Anyone out there have any ideas?  Maybe there is a way to add them as symbols to a font?  Any help is much appreciated!

Instead of an added blank page, use a “normal” page with notation.

You can attach “articulations, smart shapes, expressions, &c” to that.

Then, hide the notation:

Use a custom staff style where you - in the pane {Items to Display} - de-select everything you do not need to display, such as

- Clefs

- Key Signatures

- Time Signatures

- &c.
