Here is one i have never before seen:  At the end of one system, the bar line is placed before the staff lines end.  All the other systems have bar lines at the end of the system.    Usually, you can grab the handle of the bar line and move it.   In this case, it will not move.
Below is a screen shot.   I would include the Finale file but do not see a way to do that.
Finale 2014.5  (i won't upgrade, because they deleted BIAB harmonizing in later editions.)
Windows 7 pro, 64 bit   (i won't upgrade, because Microsoft now requires a monthly fee for something i already purchased.)

Looks as if there is a hidden time signature there.

If it's not a hidden time signature, try this.

I had this same problem in a file that someone else created and gave to me.

With the page layout tool, click on the last system. Choose what I show here. If there's any number in the "extra space at end of system", change it to zero. If it is zero already, than something else is causing your problem.

Thank you for your insights, Adrian and Jeffery,

You taught me 2 aspects of Finale previously unknown to me which will certainly be helpful down the line.

Mysteriously, neither hidden time signatures nor "extra space at end of system" show up in this particular instance.

A select-all / copy / paste operation into a pristine new document sometimes cures these sorts of dilemmas.  But not in this case.  The malady reappears in the same 2 measures in the new document as in the old.

Here may be a clue, perhaps not:   If  "FIT MEASURES" is NOT invoked, bar lines appear properly at the end of each system.   As soon as "FIT MEASURES / ALL / 2" is selected, the malady reappears in the same 2 bars as before.

Is it no longer possible to attach a Finale document to a post such as this one?

… Is it no longer possible to attach a Finale document to a post such as this one? …

Unfortunately it is for the time being not possible to attach a Finale document to a post in this forum.

Perhaps it will be possible some day.

Instead you can upload the Finale document elsewhere, and then here add a hyperlink to the document.

You can e. g. attach the Finale document in this other Finale forum (an independent forum, not monitored by MakeMusic):

https://www.finaleforum.com/index.php

NB: You can not attach your Finale document immediately after joining the other forum. That delay is a part of the other forum’s protection against spambots.

Meanwhile, your description of the problem indicates that the issue is measure specific, not system specific.

Please attach a screen shot of the Measure Attributes (Measure Tool, double-click the measure) for the measure with the “pesky” right barline.

Although this the official MakeMusic forum, it cannot host Finale files. Absurd... !

Only images seem to be accepted, not even zipped files. MM, please fix this !

Here is that screen shot.

Craig Buhler,

In your screen shot of the Measure Attributes the option Override Group Barlines is selected.

Try de-selecting it, and let us know whether that helped.

Thank you, Peter.  Unfortunately, in the confusion surrounding our recent power outage (the Olympic Peninsula got deluged with snow this weekend), the file mysteriously disappeared.   I recreated it, and the problem did not recur.  But i will keep the "override group bar lines" perimeter in mind for the future.
Even after using  several versions of Finale quite intensively for well over a decade, there is still so much to learn.

Remember the Finale mantra:

The first 10 years are the hardest.
