After creating a score, I wanted to extract parts, edit and print them. However, I can not figure out how to fix the margin on the left side of the page. I’ve tried to edit the page format. Also, if there is a way to extract the parts without the instrument name on the left of every staff, that’d be nice. Thanks! I use v25.
1) No need to “extract parts” - since you can use the linked parts instead. Much easier since the linked parts are in the same Finale document as the score. Correct a wrong note in the score - and the note is automatically corrected in the linked part.
2) I am not sure what you mean by your words “fix the margin on the left side of the page” ???
3) To remove the display of staff name in the parts:
Staff Tool.
Double-click the staff.
In the Staff Attributes, in the pane Items to Display, de-select “Staff Name in Parts”.
… Staff name in parts is currently unselected and the name is still there …
If I understand you correctly, “Staff Name in Parts” is de-selected in the Staff Attributes, but the Staff Name is still displayed in the part, right?
My first guess would be that the culprit is a staff style forcing the Staff Name display.
Try this:
Staff menu > Show Staff Styles (select)
Staff menu > Show Staff Style Names (select)
Now you can see all staff styles (you must be in the Staff Tool to see the staff styles).
… in the linked parts, with the margins I’m talking about, the staves are currently super close to the edge of the paper …
Go to
Document menu > Page Format > Parts…
and make sure the settings are as you need them.
Correcting the settings will not affect already existing pages (but all new pages in the document will default to the new settings).
To update already existing pages:
While viewing the part, go to
Page Layout Tool.
Page Layout menu > Redefine Pages > All Pages of Current Part/Score
