Hello,

Anyone have any luck getting Finale to send correct key switch information to Miroslav Philharmonik 2 Multi (KS) instrument patches? It seems to use key C0 thru F#0. I tell Finale to send these key switches on a staff either through expressions or Instrument Techniques and it doesn't work. I've had to resort to channel changes on expressions which is very time consuming work for an orchestra piece.

Also, Finale seems to crash a lot when using Miroslav Philarmonik 2. A shame since this library is extremely well made and professional.

You're keyswitches are probably off an octave because of a different middle C. Try C1 or C-1

Thanks for the great idea. Unfortunetely, it doesn't work still for me.

I'm using Instrument Techniques in HP Preferences

Create new Technique: Trumpet: Staccato

  • Instrument: Trumpet
  • Technique: Staccato
  • Action 1: Key Switch F#-1  (also tried F#0 & F#2 & F#3)
  • No filters or custom text

On the staff:

  • Create Technique Text: Staccato (None on playback tab)

With the above settings, it should just work for any trumpet right? I shouldn't have to specify any custom text or filters for devices/libraries. I also made sure no other techniques are enabled which would interfere or confuse things

It looks like I have it fixed now. I had to do the following changes. I hope this helps others who need answers. Thank you very much William Reed for your much needed great idea!!

  • Instrument: Trumpet
  • Technique: Custom Text
  • Action 1: Key Switch F#1
  • Custom Expression Text: Staccato

On the staff:

  • Create an EXPRESSION (not technique) Text: Staccato (None on playback tab)

After some more playback, I've come to realize this feature of Finale is so buggy its impossible to rely upon. Just a few measures away, the key switch stops working. It works when it wants to and fails to work when it wants to. I've even had to re-create the expression text just to get it to work. But then later on it decides to stop working when you play it again. OH - and CONSTANT CRASHES.

I'm so frustrated with Finale's buggy key switch behavior in instrument techniques now that I'm ready to give up using this program. The only reason why I'm still here is the fact that it has human playback which makes the articulations and dynamics easier.
