I'm using a Mac (Mojave). When I try to start a new file in Finale using the setup wizard the program disappears. Any suggestions?

What version of Finale? - Finale v26? - v25? - 2014?

I am experiencing the same issue.  I have Finale 2014.5 running Mojave 10.14.4.   It works fine with my older files and only crashes when creating new ones.

2014.5 does not install over Mojave. When imported via Migration Assistant onto a new Mac, it runs in demo mode but will crash when you try to authorize. I've seen both of these and tried to figure a workaround but was unsuccessful.

 

If already installed on a Mac and you upgrade the OS to Mojave, it will generally run but there is a growing list of tasks that will make it crash including those that were already known in Sierra and High Sierra. Apparently, Setup Wizard can be added to that list.

 

The workaround is to a) upgrade or b) don't do those things that make it crash.
