Hey guys! I'm using Finale 2014 and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to separate each instrument track's measure numbers along with the time signatures. Putting them all in different time signatures is relatively simple, but Finale doesn't line up the rhythm accordingly because it's still stuck on a measure by measure basis. I'm trying to create a phasing effect and want each instrument's measures and beat to be completely different. For example, one instrument might be in 7/8 and another in 4/4, but the eighth note pulse is the same so the measure numbers are not.

If I understand you correctly, the issue is layout, rather than playback, right?

1) In this particular case it does not make sense to display measure numbers in the layout.

Imagine the chaos: “Play from measure 29”.

Instead, use rehearsal letters.

2) For a layout where the eighth note pulse is the same in all parts, but the time signatures are not, you have to use a workaround.

An idea:

Make each system a one-measure system - with a BIG time signature, like e. g. 16/4.

Use the Expression Tool to add false barlines where needed.

Beware the note accidentals - since Finale does not know that the false barlines are barlines.
