When I use Speedy Entry with MIDI input, I get odd input errors. Sometimes, a note I just used seems to get stuck and appears as an interval against every successive note. Other times, I simply get a random note instead of the one I used. Now and again, I'll get random, bizarre clusters instead of the note that I used. If I close the edit window and reopen it, the problem is resolved in as much as whatever note had been sticking is no longer appearing, but then it starts all over again with a new note. I'm pretty confident that the keyboard doesn't have a sticking key, in part because I use the keyboard all the time to practice on, and I've never encountered any problem like that when using the keyboard on its own. Plus, it's not the same note that gets stuck in Speedy entry. It's any and every note that I just used. I'm using Windows 10.0.17763, a Yamaha Arius YDP-161, and Finale 25.5.0.290

I am having the same problem now with Finale - I am using version 27.  Let me know if you ever got this resolved.

Hi Jeff.  Did you get a resolution to this.  I have had a case open similar to this for a while but they think it is related to the Windows Audio Engine.  I have posted the following in the Facebook Power Users Group and would be interested in your experience to see if it matches mine.

Hi. I'm looking for someone who is having a similar problem to me. I'm a power user of Finale for 25 years or more and a daily user. I mostly use a Windows 10 laptop with no external devices and use Speedy Entry to write music using the up/down and +/- keys along with the number keys to enter notes. Maybe slightly unconventional but that's how I work, fast.
Problem. Since v26 I have been having problems with notes sticking on when I enter them. It seems to be mostly when I delete a note (BKSPC) and enter it on another pitch with the enter key but also occurs when using +/- to adjust by half a step and also when entering new notes. It is random and I cannot replicate it. Sometimes it happens on every note. The note continues to play (no further note entries can be heard) until I do Midi: all notes off, playback from the transport bar or Ctl+Shift+ left click to do fast playback. Clearly this is really hampering my workflow and stunting my creativity. It was the same in v27 when I upgraded and it has been happening since I replaced my old laptop in March 2021.
I have had a case open with Makemusic who have been very helpful and have narrowed it down to the Windows Audio Engine AUDIODG.EXE and suggested a reinstall of Windows and then to log a case with Microsoft.
Today I bought a new laptop, hoping the new installation of Windows would help. It didn't .
So I will need to log a case with Microsoft but it will be hard to explain and I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem.
I seems as though a Midi note off command isn't being sent by Finale or received by the Windows audio engine. However as this is not restricted to one machine, I feel it could be happening to someone else to and would like to share notes.

I just upgraded to to version 27.3.0.137, and upgraded Windows, hoping it would fix the problem, and it made it better, but didn't completely fix it.

What happens now is this: let's say I'm using my MIDI keyboard and a computer keyboard to enter speedy notes by using numbers for the durations, and the MIDI keyboard for the pitches. The first note comes out right. On the next note, I get the note that I enter, but I also get the previous pitch added in as a harmonic interval. If I keep going, that intitial pitch continues to be part of everything I enter. It continues like this for about four or five notes, and then it finally drops out. I'm running Finale on a Dell XPS 13 9300 laptop, with Windows 11 Pro. My MIDI keyboard is a Yamaha Arius YDP-161. The MIDI interface is called UM-One, which is connected through a docking station. If there's anything else about my setup that'd be relevant, please let me know.

Here's something interesting: when I play back through MIDI, Finale adjusts the reverb on my keyboard, and I get TONS of it. I often wonder if whatever's causing that is also making it seem to Finale as if I'm constantly playing notes that I'm not actually playing.

I will say that I do NOT experience this problem if I enter notes in some non-MIDI manner. If I were to enter notes the way Philip does, Finale seems to behave normally. But other than that, we are clearly experiencing a similar result.
