I'm using Finale 2012 on a MacBook Pro 10.11.6 El Capitan. (I upgraded from Lion, although I knew Finale 2012 won't work properly, apparently only while using Human Playback)

Now I'm working on a document created with an older version of Finale. The places where I used the plug-in "Beam over barlines" don't appear correctly, as shown. In some places, I managed to select and "remove beam over barline" and then "beam" again, but most of the time it appears the message that I'm attaching.

I still can try to erase the notes and do all the process again, but it will be time-consuming and also I'd like to know what's happening and why.

Please.

Many thanks

Update.

One measure on a staff system moved to another system, and that caused the problem. I arranged the measures as they were in the original version, and the problem is solved.

Thanks.

As you have found out, the plug-in Beam Over Barlines uses one trick when beaming over a barline inside a system, and another trick when beaming over a system break.
