Thank you J Adrian Verkouteren!

You've made me dig deeper. Apparently, this plug-in is built in with Fin 26. I'll need to explore a bit more. A friend sent me a .sib file and I would like to be able to access it. Thank you very much. Very kind. Cheers, Moya Henderson

Moya,

You need your friend who has Sibelius needs to export to XML directly from Sibelius and send you that file. Once you receive the XML file, then you can import it into Finale. The regular Sibelius file which I'm guessing is what you have, cannot be opened by Finale. It has to be an XML file. There is a Finale Quick Start video which covers XML file conversion process. You'll find that video under the Importing Music title.

The Dolet plugin for Sibelius adds or improves MusicXML to various older versions of Sibelius, not Finale.  Likewise, the Finale versions of Dolet add additional MusicXML functionality to older versions of Finale going back to 2009. Finale 25.4 and 26 have the latest XML functionality built in and do not need Dolet.

What Jeffery Turner says. If your friend’s version of Sibelius is older, it may need Dolet to do this. The Dolet site has this info and the plugin is free.

Otherwise, the only other way is to download the Sibelius demo, open the .sib file in it and export as MusicXML. If you’ve done that already and are past 30 days, Avid has various plans for you to purchase including Subscription if you want to rent it awhile.

Thank you Mike, thank you Jeffrey! You guys are great! It all helps! In the meantime, my friend sent me a photograph of the single page. I'll see him this w/e and ask him about exporting the page as an XML file. Many thanks and cheers! Moya Henderson
