So, before contacting tech support, I thought I would look to the collective knowledge of the user base.

First, the specs of what I'm using:

Finale for Mac, latest version, 26.1.0.484

Macbook Pro running 10.14.5

16 gB RAM, 2.8 gHz Core i7

Komplete Audio 6 interface (*note that the error occurs with or without the interface attached)

I used Finale on Friday, May 31. No problems.

I used Logic Pro X on Saturday, and here's where I think the problem might originate: I accidentally unplugged the audio interface while Logic was still running. But, Logic seemed to roll with it, though I just subsequently shut it down without re-attaching the interface.

Didn't use Finale at all on Sunday.

Launched this morning with repeated error 7 messages. Did a re-start, same error. Launched Logic to verify functionality of audio interface, no problems there.

One of the default help documents here on the help center mentioned ReWire, but I could not find any reference to ReWire in my version of Finale. Maybe that's moved somewhere? In any case, I've never used Finale in ReWire mode.

Thanks for any help. I'm going to go try my Windows version on my work laptop and see if it will let me get work done today!

So, though I've never used Finale in ReWire mode, once I found the menu item to reset it and did that, Finale is working normally again.

Hi Brad,

It's great to hear that you were able to find your solution! ReWire hosts can sometimes trigger ReWire mode in client applications inadvertently. So even though you have not used Finale in ReWire mode, Logic could have turned this on regardless.

If Finale is launched with the ReWire component enabled and there is no host available, the Error -7 message will always be triggered. There is not a way to prevent this in Finale but I believe that Logic X now has the option to turn ReWire off altogether to avoid this.

Unfortunately, that doesn't tell us anything. Error 7 (Win) and -7 (Mac) are generic OS errors that mean something can't find something else. What? Depends on many variables. If you do a search in the upper right hand box, you'll see many threads with different problems and solutions. Although something in Finale may trigger the error, it is never a "Finale error", always your operating system giving a report.

You can also tell us what we need to know to begin guessing:
