There are a few items that are automatically generated with a new document that I want to standardize the placement across the Score and Page templates. Things such as the Tempo Marking placement and Subtitle placement. Where does one find the options to change the location of those in a template so they're placed correctly for all future documents based on that template?

Normally, you will make your modifications and save as a new template. Otherwise, saving will create a document.

For the individual elements, best to find each one in the help files so you'll know where they're located, what variables each may have and how to apply.

Correct, I'm creating a new template, not a new document. I want one standardized look across a book of scores/parts.

So basically the location of elements generated by the Document Setup Wizard such as the Initial Tempo Marking can't be specified in a template?  And I can't seem to find any way to adjust the placements of tempo marks, etc. in score's parts templates anywhere. It seems to me to get specific about placement of items, I need to essentially create a master blank document and forego templates all together. It kind of defeats the purpose of templates in general then.

Thanks for your help Mike.

The placement of tempo marks is adjusted in the tempo mark category in the expression tool. So if the expression library is contained in the template, then all tempo marks created using this template will be positioned according to the specified settings.

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for the info. I'll do a deep dive into using the library for positioning.

I found a work around finally, you can adjust said uncreated Tempo Marks in the Category Designer of the Template. Unfortunately there's not a way to specify specific location for the Score vs. Parts, but as long as you set it up in the location you want for the parts, then all you have to do is "Unlink In All Parts" in the Score and position it for the Score vs. positioning for every single part. Not ideal, but it's a step in the right direction.

There are 3 Expression Categories which are able to use "score lists." They are: Tempo Marks; Tempo Alterations; and Rehearsal Marks. The Tempo Marks and Tempo Alterations categories are just like the Expressive Text and Technique Text, the difference being that they can use "score lists." The Rehearsal Marks category allows you to use auto-sequencing.

You can copy any one of these categories to base your custom category on to get access to the "score list." The "score list" allows you to place expressions in both score and parts, score only, parts only, or any combination of staves. You can have up to 8 different score lists.
