Hello all,
here my specs: finale version number 26. Windows 10 operating system
I am wondering if at all possible can you add a snare drum roll sound to Garrittan instruments for finale using the jazz fusion drum kit? I have tried extensively to map a snare sound in the only success I have is the carrot will show the different instruments. Such as; snare drum cross stick, snare drum, and snare drum roll. However when playing back it does not work.
I have learned about: input and outputs, MIDI percussion mapping, going to the score manager and even removing a sound in place of a snare drum roll. No matter what I do the patches stay constant. (Like out-of-the-box)
I hope I am clear and would love any verification. I have always doubled and dabbled with finale, but I'm giving it a college try to have all my works professionally done through the software. Wish me luck

If I understand you correctly, you are not interested in playing Finale through MIDI (= no VST), right?

Not that I blame you.

Once you are used to hearing VST, it is seldom satisfying to play Finale through MIDI.

 

Ya gets what ya pays fer!

 

Finale comes with Garritan Instruments for Finale which is a reduced version of the full GPO.

If you buy the full GPO, you will get the snare drum roll sound.

I am using VST And JAAB 3

if I use gpo I won't get the jazz sounds or drum set.??

the sounds  that I am using are great, Not sure why they didn't put a snare drum roll Patch. I have to now address how much time I put into this  embarrassingly:( :)

Does anybody have a suggestion for making buzz rolls (or press rolls) - the one that looks like a Z, play on drums? Two slash and three slash articulations work just fine. Thanks! Wade

Hi, Wade,

 

For those types of rolls (I remember calling them a press in my drum corps. days 55 years ago), you will require a 3rd party library that supports them. Garritan Concert and Marching Band 2 is one that’s available.

MakeMusic has a separate User Board for Garritan Instruments similar to the finale boards.
