Win 10, Fin 2012, laptop

I've added text.  I select the text box, select "Frame Attributes," and attach to "Measure (whatever)" since I don't just want it attached to the page.

Text block has moved into the prescribed measure, so click on the button and drag it into its precise position.  OOPS, when I move it to the right, it's moving to the left.  Okay, I'll try moving it down; it moves more to the left.  No matter which direction I drag it, it moves to the left, then off the page, then off the screen.

I had this problem yesterday, and something fixed it, but I don't know what.

 

EDIT...  Okay, so, since measure 1 (where I attached it) is a pickup measure of only one beat in 4/4, I attached it to measure 2, and the problem seems solved.

This is one of the well known issues with a Pickup Measure.

 

The feature Pickup Measure is a very old Finale feature which “fakes” the pickup measure as a full measure with invisible “placeholders” before the pickup notes.

In the playback you can hear that the Pickup Measure is a full measure.

 

You can avoid all the Pickup Measure problems by, instead creating the pickup with the Time Signature Tool:

a 1/4 time signature, displaying as 4/4.
