using finale 2014.5 , speedy entry with keyboard. - suddenly after 10 years no longer works properly . Now every time I try and put in a new note it enters also the previous note - leading to big chords very quickly of notes I do not want. It does this even with the keyboard turned off when I choose a rest - it will enter the last note(s). This makes me think the problem is not at the keyboard end.

I have windows 7, use finale 14.5, enter notes holding down the note on the keyboard, connected with usb to my
computer, together with speedy entr, where I select the note type- quaver, crotchet etc.
Now when I do that, the note that appears on the score will have the previous not repeated - and this iteration continues, like a shadow or something .   For some reason it will not just enter the most recent note selected.
I am not got at rules. I am a composer. But I will look now. Hope that is enough information.

this is why the ending of telephone support is so terrible. I NEVER had a problem I could not fix, usually first call . Now it will take weeks every time.
I am not and have no intention of becoming a computer expert and am not interested in whether I am good at computers or not. It ALREADFY takes up too much attention for me. I compose music and the computer is meant to be a tool. I will never again recommend finale to anybody _ I will warn people off it. In the past I would recommend it to anybody.      Never again.
Here I am - wasting my precious time and having to be a supplicant for knowledge I do not want, or feel like a peasanty because I do not have it. That is the opposite of using the computer strictly as a tool.

Has something activated the sustain pedal on your keyboard?

Thanks.      It does not have a pedal. It has various buttons including reverb. I have turned reverb off and tried all the different pianos and organs on the keyboard, and different keyboard settings..       I am doubtful the problem originates in the keyboard since when the keyboard is turned off the duplicating of old notes can continue just by speedy entering rests - although that is not conclusive for ruling out the keyboard as the source of the problem.....

MMMM   solved it - it seems.
First I used the keyboard on another keyboard with finale on it.-   same result - repeating notes . Therefore keyboard
was the problem.
Took off the back and found a piece of bent metal running behind the notes - bent just where the notes used to repeat most.
So I bent it straight, cleaned and dusted the innards of the keyboard, and tried it. Problem solved - so far anyway.
