Although it’s almost two years old, I just came across this article:

https://www.peaksware.com/peaksware-holdings-announces-launch-of-ventures-division/

Interesting that SmartMusic is considered a “platform solution” while Finale and Garritan are “complementary” products. Mr. Fisher’s proudest accomplishment seems to be making and controlling lots of money. I no longer have even wavering hope for any real future development of Finale. It seems to be “ignore the bugs, and look for something easy to call a new feature. Oh, and don’t bother really testing it. The guys on the forum will do that.”

(Cross-posted to the other forum, as well)

I would really like to see a response from him, but somehow, I suspect he’s too busy for that...

I too am very concerned for the future of Finale. Does it have a future? I've invested 25 years in it, I'd hate to relearn doing my thing with another program. I had a meeting with a startup guy (computer dude) a year ago that had had some interactions with Makemusic on a possible app (Never came to fruition) He explained to me how shocked he was to learn how outdated Finale's coding is. I really hope this product is given more attention and care. Seems eerily quiet.

I always worry about having a problem with Finale because the support is so poor.  In that regard - does anyone know what error 0xc0000006 mean, and more important how can it be fixed?

Angela, that's the sort of problem that really should go to tech support. Use the Submit a Request tab at the top of this page.

The problem is there is no tech support.  I used the request tab, but because Finale no longer support 2014.5 the message comes back "solved" but of course they have not helped my problem at all. There advice is "Go ask the community."

While I have serious concerns for Finale, it's stability and it's future, I still think its not uncommon for a company not to support older versions of it's programs. Like Windows XP. So I don't see this as a problem. I wish they'd just tell us something to give us the confidence that there is indeed a future with Finale or do I need to go into the janitorial supplies business.

Avremi - I had windows XP for many years.  Microsoft supported it.  I bought the "upgrade" called Finale 2014.5 perhaps 2 years ago.  The support has been miserable from the start.  Supporting software you sell for less than 5 years seems to not be the policy of a corporation with a future..

0xc0000006 is a generic Windows error message. It is STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR that means something is wrong but gives no clue as to what.

Googling 0xc0000006 will bring up thousands of pages that may or may not help. Most will try to sell you crapware that you don't need but you may stumble onto the solution in the process.

Good luck!

Yes this is getting ridiculous. I've been a finale user from almost the beginning. early 90's. Sad to say but I've got to move on.

Although MikeR voiced a valid complaint, the "me too" arguments are not compelling at all.

>In that regard - does anyone know what error 0xc0000006 mean, and more important how can it be fixed?<

It's a generic Windows error.

>Avremi - I had windows XP for many years.  Microsoft supported it.<

Microsoft hasn't supported XP for many years. Trying to make an argument based on that premise is silly. Min 8/8.1 support likewise and, per the official announcement, "Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support won't end until January 14, 2020" Extended support=security updates,

Apple supports their operating systems for exactly 3 years from the date of first release.

>Yes this is getting ridiculous. I've been a finale user from almost the beginning. early 90's. Sad to say but I've got to move on.<

and your issue is what???????

>Supporting software you sell for less than 5 years seems to not be the policy of a corporation with a future.. <

Please check your math. 2014 was released in 2013. Five years later was 2018. 2014.5 was a no-charge upgrade to 2014. Check your purchase history—the product you bought was called Finale 2014.

Mike H,

The “me too” is compelling, at least in the sense that it shows the PTB that is is not a complaint from a single disgruntled user. That assumes, of course, that they read it. And care...
