Hello,

My old hard drive melted down (causing endless problems with multiple software programs).

Regarding my Finale files: I have hundreds of old files that I created for various projects. I re-registered and uploaded my Finale 2008 version to my new OSX Yosemite version 10.10.3 platform. However when I open my old files, the engraving does not have the note heads or clefs, etc., on the staves but rather, it has a bunch of nonsense/gibberish (even though the triplet stems are still there ... ???).

Can anyone help me with what I might be able to do to fix this?

And ... as a cautionary note to anyone who happens to read this: BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You will be VERY sorry you didn't if your hd melts down.

Thanks Mike.

I will work my way through the link that you posted to see what I can make of it.

(Yes ... I can open the old Finale in Yosemite but ... to what effect remains to be seen. It doesn't seem to play back the existing files either (?).)

Excellent!

All of the notes seem to be looking proper now.

Thanks Mike!

... However, the sound playback is silent. -The cursor moves but produces no sound. There was a pop-up window that said:

Missing requested plug-in: MakeMusic:
SmartMusicSoftSynth for bank #1

Is there any chance that you can direct me to another thread that can address this issue or should I start a new thread?

Thanks again.

Did you install from your 2008 CD? There are actually 2 installers—one for Finale; the other for your instruments and Aria Player. The second one pops up after the first has finished and is sometimes dismissed. That's where I'd look first.

There is the chance that your player or installer is incompatible with Yosemite. I'm not going to know 11 years later. The Aria Player can be updated through your MakeMusic account. Look for All Downloads and it's in there but I don't know what version you need if reinstalling the second part doesn't work.
