Can I use my jv 1010 sound module with my Finale v. 25.5? (OS X Yosemite v 10.10.5)  I am not real crazy about the aria/garritan string sounds at all and  if I can, how do I hook things up-what do I need, etc.

"in" Finale? Not the way it works. Just as you can do note entry etc. via MIDI, you can trigger a MIDI module from Finale. The Finale manual and Apple's pages on setting up MIDI are your guides.

First you set up the MIDI module and interface so that your Mac can see it in Audio MIDI Setup.app. From there, you set up Finale so it can 'see' your MIDI setup.

If you have a thorough understanding of MIDI/Mac, the Finale part will be easy. If not, there will be a bit of a learning curve.

This post puts me into the Wayback Machine. I was triggering my JV1010 from Finale 1998–2002 in OS 8–9 before moving to VIs around 2003 (I still have it, BTW). This is one of those times where I can claim that I've forgotten more than most will know because I do recall that I used to know this stuff cold — darned if I could talk anyone through it nowadays.

Hi...there are few options for what you want. The computer via interface and USB option is more common these days, and the sky is the limit once your system is up and running, glitch free. But the module obviously has advantages. One of which is that running glitch-free with a computer can take a lot of effort and research/ learning. So the midi module still makes a lot of sense, especially if you are setting up and packing away for gigs or moving around.
