I am using Speedy Entry and placing my cursor on the line/space where I want to put a note. I press the number key for the note value, and a rest appears instead. (I press a 5 and get a quarter rest, not a note.) Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and how to fix it?

From your description it sounds like you are using the computer keyboard, and not a MIDI keyboard.

 

Take a look in the Speedy menu.

 

Is the option

Use MIDI Device for Input

selected or de-selected?

I suspect that

Use MIDI Device for Input

is selected.

It should be de-selected since you are not using a MIDI keyboard.

Peter's suggestions should have cleared it up completely. If not, please post with a more detailed description of the issue and the steps you've taken/are taking to clear it up.

Thank you. I'm not sure how the Use MIDI Device got checked, but that did solve the problem. Thank you for your help.
