I couldn't figure out how to phrase this in a search...

I write guitar scores and often two layers (i.e. layers one and two) will share the same note in the score as their voices cross. On playback, these notes sound back louder (I assume because the sound request is sent twice to midi). How do I make all notes play back at equal volume? Is it even possible in settings? Thanks everyone!

You could mute one of the notes, via Speedy Entry Tool’s (very technical) dialog box Edit Frame.

To get there (you must be in the Speedy Entry Tool, in the correct layer):

Click outside the staff, to exit the entry rectangle.

Hold down Option, and click on the staff/measure.

WOW, that actually worked! Very impressive deep dive, Peter, thank you for your help. Now I have to decide if I really want to do this manually for god only knows how many notes.... ouch.

Any global preference or plug-in out there?!

If your two layers are for two players, consider using a different VI for the second layer.
