Windows 10, Finale v26 (up-to-date)

So, something happens from time to time...

Some of my Expression Tool markings, i.e. mf, a tempo, Adagio, etc, appear as a yellowish orange, while the majority of entries are the default green.

What could have caused this, and how might I make them all the same color?

Thank you,
:-)

Oh!

I should have mentioned:

If I double-click on the Expression marking to open the Expression Dialog and "Assign" it again, nothing changes.

On the other hand, if I delete the Expression marking and the reenter it, it appears with the default color (green).

Also, in the Color preferences, the yellow-orange color is set at the default for "Unlinked."

Thank you,
:-)

The yellow-orange “unlinking color” means that the expression has no longer the same positioning in the score and in the linked part.

In Other Words: the positioning is no longer linked between score and part.

This will happen when you examine the part, and move the expression in the part.

I would not worry; you often need to adjust the layout in the part.

But if you need to re-link to the score, switch to the Expression Tool, and right-click the expression’s handle.

In the context menu, choose Relink In All Parts.

Thank you, Peter (once again :-)

Yes, "Relink" did it.

I still do not quite understand what caused this, exactly.

I think you are saying that the Expressions (and other items that changed to yellowish-orange) are still in the parts, but the items have been moved (even slightly) in the score.

The parts do check out, so I guess I answered my own question.

Perhaps my brain wraps around this best when I think of the color change as an alert of some sort?

Usually it's the other way around, that expressions have been adjusted in the part(s). There is nothing wrong with the symbol showing orange; it will still print in black. It's just a heads up.
