Finale v26 and v25 slow and laggy on Windows 10 i7 7700hq and 16gb Ram

Hello, I am currently using the 30 day trial of Finale in hopes to purchase it as I do not want to purchase Sibelius and I would like to upgrade from Musescore. The problem is, both Sibelius and Musescore, as well as my DAWs, and every other program including far more demanding programs on my computer run much faster and smoother than Finale does.

My computer has an i7 7700hq cpu, 16gb ram, and a gtx 1060 graphics card.

Even a blank finale document is laggy, so it has nothing to do with the amount of instruments I have loaded. Can anyone offer any assistance?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also have it running on an SSD.

What tasks in Finale strike you as lagging? We need a few specifics to form a clear picture of what you are experiencing.

Do you have a 4K or 5K monitor?

J ADRIAN VERKOUTEREN The most problematic form of lagging I'm experiencing is the scrolling. When I open a default blank score and scroll everything is jittery, but when I open a project that has notes the lagging becomes very exaggerated. Playback however seems to be perfectly fine unless I try scrolling while the music is playing.

Another thing I noticed is that the mouse cursor turns into a loading icon any time I input a note, click a button in Finale, or scroll.

A number of strange things have been known to happen if you scroll during playback. Disappearing notes, jumping expressions, out-of-sync display, etc.

Don’t scroll during playback.

Thanks. I will stop scrolling during playback as I realized that I am not allowed to scroll during playback in musescore. However, I am still having problems with the sluggishness of the program when not playing anything.

You might want to use the "Submit a request" link to ask MakeMusic about it directly. If you are considering purchasing Finale, I would hope they'd be happy to help you figure out what is happening.
