Hi There!
I want to save some of my Finale files as pdfs so I can send them to my students through an email. I see that you are supposed to go to Export and choose pdf, but I don't see pdf when I click on export. Thank you! I have a MacBook Pro with Catalina and Finale v.26.

Try this:

Graphics Tool.

Graphics menu > Export Pages…

At the top of the dialog box Export Pages there is a pop up menu where you can choose PDF.

I have had good results printing files as PDF via an external PDF print program. Mine is one I paid for, but there are free ones out there.

In the past, at least, the Export PDF function has (in some users' eyes) had shortcomings.

Finale 25 and later, Mac and Windows are quite a bit different when it comes to print and pdf..

Excellent advice for Windows but not applicable to the Mac

On the Mac, you can select pdf from the Print menu but it gives you a bloated color file—true black is not available. Besides being a huge email attachment, many monochrome laser printers cannot print this properly.

allows you a normal sized true black pdf file on a Mac. It would be nice if MM fixed that — or at least explain why they did this to us. This has yet to happen.
