All of a sudden my interface doesn't work. I can't enter notes from my Yamaha keyboard. I only get the time values on the score on my computer screen. I have checked for connections--all neatly in place--and I have checked my Roland interface--still installed. What can be the problem?

How old are the cables connecting the keyboard to the computer?

If you have removed and restored the cables on your keyboard (if they are traditional MIDI cables) be sure each cable runs from a MIDI OUT on the source to a MIDI IN socket at the other end. (Of course you likely already know this.)

If you get rests instead of notes, make sure that you have "Midi Device for Input" selected in the Speedy and Simple menus.

You could also verify that your keyboard appears in : Midi/Audio -> Device Setup -> Midi/internal Speaker Setup. Verify In and Out.

In the same menu, select Midi Thru -> Smart.
