Text blocks do not print

Windows 10, Finale 26.2 The problem is similar to one submitted by Ron Campbell and worked on by Mike Rosen, Community expert

The problem suddenly started a couple months ago with Finale 2014, which had worked well for about six years.

Another misbehavior is when you press the T in the square, then some text block, then Edit Text under the

Text column the small window comes up, but it's empty, until you highlight where the words should be, and then

they appear. Your can edit and the changes will be there when you go back to the full program again. But they won't

print.

Have you tried recreating the Preference file?

While in a Finale program, I press Edit > Preferences.

When I press Reset All Preferences it warns: This is permanent and cannot be undone.

Will the program be in trouble if I let this take effect?

No, the program will not “be in trouble”.

Resetting the Preferences will just reset the program to its default settings (= factory settings).

Often this step will make the program work normally again.

Your personal program customizations (if you have ever made any) will be lost, but you can - manually - re-create your program customizations.

When you have customized your program settings, remember to Save Preferences (File menu).

We need more info from you.

- Operation system (Windows, Mac OS), and version?

- Program (Finale, PrintMusic, SongWriter, NotePad), and version?

If I understand you correctly, the text displays all right on the computer screen, but it does not print - right?

1) If text is hidden, it will not print, but it may still display on the screen - in “pale shading”.

- Does the text display in “pale shading”?

2) I am not sure what you mean by your words “song/selection”. Please explain your steps.

Windows 10 Finale 26.2 I got everything to print, with help from Zachery C., by exporting the file to a PDF file and printing that.

There is still a problem with "sub-screens" like when I want to insert an expression - fff or ff or etc., the little screen has all blanks, not pale shading,

Is this in all files, or just one? If it’s in all files, I would try recreating the preferences. If it’s just one, try exporting the file as XML, and importing it back in. This often cleans up corruption in a file.
