See if you can upgrade to 2014.5. If I recall correctly, that fixed a number of things. Beyond that, if neither a restart nor recreating the preferences helped, you might have to consider an upgrade to Finale 26.

Thanks so much for your reply. Will it cost much to upgrade, do you think? I’m concerned if I upgrade the same problem may eventually happen again. I am wondering whether to bite the bullet and go over to Sibelius, as everyone seems to say it’s great. In two minds!

The upgrade to F26 is about $150. It should solve the problem, but try the demo, first.

If I were 50 years younger, and just starting out, I would probably go with Dorico. It seems to be a pretty powerful program, although it doesn’t have all of its feature set ready to go. If you are used to Finale, I don’t think I would go to Sibelius. As I understand it, its paradigm is quite different from Finale. But of course, what do I know?

Thanks for your replies everyone. I have now bought Sibelius instead as it’s so much more intuitive. I finally got fed up of Finale’s problems!

Not good when I am thinking of moving up to F26.

And we can do with more colours and brighter fonts to liven up the ambience. There is a faded/fading feel to the entire forum. 

I love green so the only thing I like here is the Submit button and the MM logo.
