I just upgraded my macOS to Mojave and I'm encountering a problem I haven't seen before. Finale crashes every time I type "opt. n" for the ñ character.  It's an immediate program disappearing crash. I'm working on a 2015 retina MacBook Pro. Restarting in safe mode gives the same result, so it must be an issue between Mojave and Finale.

I found a work-around copying the character from another program and pasting it in.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Thanks,

Dave Matsen

Ok, digging though the knowledge base, I see this is a known issue. Annoying since I work on a lot of multilingual projects with publishers that are brand new program versions adverse. As you were.

Rather than the option-n, use the long press method that has been available for years on a Mac. Just hold down the n key, and you will get a flyout with numbered choices. Tap the number of the one you want. You will find that all of the vowels, and many consonants, have multiple choices.

Even on the iPad, I can enter n, ñ, and ń.

Thanks for the tip, Mike. Slows the work flow a little bit but a workable solution. Cheers!

David Matsen,

In the thread title you tell that you are using Finale v25.

For what it is worth:

I do not get the ñ crash in Finale v26.

I suppose that the bug has been fixed in v26.
